The body of the Air Design scraper is made of stainless steel to resist corrosion and enhance durability. The tungsten carbide used by Air Design in the manufacturing of scrapers is high quality unground carbide called Wearcarb TM with Rockwell hardness of RA92, manufactured by a major U.S. company. Wearcarb TM is made up of solid cemented carbides to resist abrasive wear which occurs when two parts are in continual contact. Tungsten carbide has been shown to outlast wear hardened steel alloys in some wear applications by a ratio of 100 to 1.
